(aka questions/concerns that haven't necessarily been asked yet but i figure are probably bound to come up at some point and i'm a virgo so making FAQs is fun for me)

How do I submit a quote?

How can I find out what fic a quote is from?
Due to twitter character limits, it would be problematic to include a title or link in the quote tweet. So instead, all of the quotes are listed on this spreadsheet as well as the source fic's title, author, rating, and word count.

Why are quotes being repeated?
I have no idea why it repeats quotes 😭 I kind of assumed the bot would have a mechanism in place to avoid repeating quotes but perhaps it doesn't... oh well!

Why was the quote I submitted not added to the bot?
There are a few reasons the quote might not get added:A common one is that the quote is simply too long and there isn't an easy way to shorten it. Sometimes I will take out a section and replace with "[...]" in order to include as many submitted quotes as possible, but unfortunately some quotes just don't seem like they will work without the full text included.Another reason is that the fic being quoted is marked as Private (i.e, it requires someone to be logged into an AO3 account to view). I want to be respectful of authors who make their works private because they don't necessarily want attention on those works, so I err on the side of caution and don't include quotes from private works.The last reason is that I missed it! If you think this is the case, DM the quote bot account and I'll double check.

I want to submit a quote but all of them are too long.
:( I'm sorry, character limits suck. Not all quotes can fit into <280 characters, but that doesn't mean they aren't awesome quotes or that the fics they are featured in aren't great. This is just a silly lil bot for fun, so don't sweat it!

My quote is featured on the bot and I would like to have it removed.
DM the bot account and I will remove it!
